What's Happening Around St. Vincent de Paul - Needles
    Once again we
are partnering with the
Needles Senior Citizens Club during the 2011 Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season.  During this time of the year we distribute grocery gift cards to low income individuals and families across our local tri-state community to help make their holidays a little bit brighter. With the help of Susan East at the Needles Senior Citizens Club we are able to ensure our older community members are not forgotten.

New Walk-In Freezer for SVdP
Thanks to the BHHS Legacy Foundation
SVdP Needles recently purchased and installed a new walk-in freezer thanks to a generous grant from the BHHS Legacy Foundation.  This will greatly increase our capacity to accept food donations of quantity, as well as to store County food commodities safely.  Nancy Mongeau, Vice President of Program Development for BHHS Legacy Foundation stated the Foundation's grant to St. Vincent's supports Legacy's strategic priority of improving community health and quality of life.

County commodities combined with our Food Pantry distributions equaled a total of approximately 85,000 pounds of food given out for free from the local SVdP in Needles during Fiscal Year 2011.
Anderson Automotive Group
of Lake Havasu City, AZ
Partners with SVdP of Needles
SVdP Needles is the proud recipient of a new (used) 2000 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 Work Truck donated by Anderson Automotive Group located in Lake Havasu City, Arizona.  On December 1, 2011 Jason Anderson, Dealer Principal for Anderson Automotive Group, turned over the keys to the truck to Charles McKinnie, President of St. Vincent de Paul in Needles.

Anderson Automotive Group has a history of supporting the community and responded generously when approached by SVdP for assistance in replacing their old truck.  Once the perfect trade-in became available they made all necessary repairs before donating the truck to St. Vincent's.  The truck will be used to pick-up donations, deliver furniture from the resale store, and to pick-up food to stock the food pantry.

During the holiday season, Thanksgiving and Christmas sit-down dinners are provided for the local community by the St. Vincent de Paul Society and St. Ann's parish volunteers.
This annual tradition is graciously sponsored by the BHHS Legacy Foundation.  This year 210 dinners were prepared and served by over 30 volunteers for Thanksgiving, including "to go" orders.
